CLAIR "RIP" ROSCOE RIPLEY-76 of Glendale, AZ. Born August 3, 1927 in Doudes, Iowa and entered into heaven on Monday August 4, 2003 following a long illness. Rip is survived by his wife of 47 years Caroline Ripley, daughters Kathy Hooker, Sue Carpenter, 2 grandchildren Ashley Marie & Dustin and 4 sisters and 1 brother. Rip had many adventures while in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He met Caroline while stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center where he taught fire fighting. After their marriage they remained in the Chicago area while Rip had several different occupations. He became a plant electrician for John Mansville and National Gypsum companies. Following a hospitalization for a lung condition, doctors recomended a warmer, drier climate. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1969 where Rip worked for Spreckles Sugar for several years and then became a construction electrician. He was employed by IBEW local 640 for many years. Rip was also a member of the Knights of Columbus-fourth degree-Padre Serra Council #7114. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael's Catholic Church 5525 W. Acoma in Glendale, AZ on August 16, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Charities.
