Mrs. Maude McIntosh ~ 1875-?

Mrs. Maude McIntosh, 88, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday March 10, at Van Buren County Memorial hospital where she had been a patient for four weeks.

She was born July 31, 1875 in Mt. Zion, the daughter of Arnold C. and Martha Barker. Her marriage to Thomas Addison McIntosh took place Jan. 11, 1900 in Mt. Zion. They lived in Bakersfield, Calif., for several years. Following her husband’s death in 1912, Mrs. McIntosh returned to Mt. Zion and lived there the rest of her life. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church.

Survivors include a son, Addison of Mt. Zion; three daughters, Mrs. Berniece Borders of Keosauqua, Mrs. Ruth Ellsworth of Lincoln and Mrs. Mabel Sanders of Santa Clara, Calif.; two brothers, Chester P. Barker of Mr. Zion and A.C. Barker of Lewiston, Idaho; one sister, Josephine E. Barker of Mr. Zion, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A son Russell, died in 1959.

Four brothers and sisters preceded her in death. They were George V., John H., W. Russell and Nell Workman.

Services was (sic) held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church, with the Rev. R.M. Carpenter officiating.

Burial was in Miller’s chapel cemetery near Mt. Zion.
