Funeral Of Mary June Ream To Be Held Here Today

Funeral services for Mary June Ream, 16 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sydnor Ream, are to be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church. The Rev. M.E. Hayes will be in charge.

Miss Ream died Tuesday afternoon at the Ottumwa hospital and death was attributed to complications following an operation for appendicitis. She became ill about two weeks ago and, March 6, was taken to the hospital to submit to the operation.

Death came as a surprise to many of her friends in Keosauqua. It was known that her condition was serious, but it was felt that she would recover.

Mary June was a member of the junior class in high school and popular with her schoolmates and instructors. She was a member of the girls' glee club, the girls' basketball team and the school dramatic club. Her outside activities included membership in the Epworth League; she was a member of the Standard Bearer society and a substitute teacher of the Sunday school primary class.

Plans have been made for the Standard Bearer society to attend the funeral services in a group. Superintendent Beall said that arrangements would be made for those high school students desirous of attending. It is expected that a large number of the junior class enrollment, if not the entire class, will attend the last rites.

Surviving are her parents and one brother, Calvin, of Marshalltown, Iowa.

Interment will be made in the Purdom cemetery.
