Merrill L. Turner, 91, of Farmington, IA, passed away at 10:52 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2015, in the emergency room at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA.

Born May 6, 1924, in Douds, IA, the son of George Elmer and Elsie (Poole) Turner. On December 14, 1957, he married Shirley Ann Wixom in Keosauqua, IA. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2000.

Survivors include his three sons: Lonnie (Sandra) Turner of Farmington, Gary (Holly) Turner of Farmington and Kelvin Turner of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Jeana Turner of Mt. Pleasant, Brenda (Brad) Metcalf of Mt. Pleasant and Melissa (Rick Losey) Turner of Bonaparte; 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Garald Turner of Farmington; two sisters, Virginia Robison of Keosauqua and Carroll Lannom of Gladesville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, one daughter, Patricia, two sisters and two brothers.

Merrill was a United States Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a truck driver for over 50 years. He was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post #231 for 57 years. Merrill enjoyed trucking and being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at on July 18, 2015, at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington with Pastor Andy Bunnell officiating. Full military rites were presented by the Farmington American Legion Post #231.

Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington assisted the family with arrangements.
