CLAY PEARSON DEVOTED 15 YEARS TO RELIGION

J.C. Pearson, 83, former resident of Van Buren county died at 2 p.m. Friday at his home in Eldon after about four months illness.

He was born in Keosauqua, Nov. 2, 1855, the son of Benjamin F. and Eliza Mullin Pearson, and lived at that place until 34 years ago when he and his family moved to Eldon. For several years he served as a rural mail carrier.

He was married to Margaret Ellen Ware of Bonaparte who preceded him in death in 1926. Mr. Pearson devoted most of the last 15 years to religious work and in 1926 and 1927 spent six months in Palestine with Evangelist Tom M. Olson of Upland, Calif., who conducted the funeral services held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Eldon. Interment was in Eldon cemetery.

Mr. Pearson was the father of Frank W. Pearson of Los Angeles, owner of Meek ranch south of Milton. He is survived by two other sons, Harry C. of Los Angeles and Carl A., Indianola, two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Perry of Eldon and Mrs. Harry Chumbley of Trenton, Mo., and an adopted son, Dale H. Pearson of Des Moines.

White, Mr. and Mrs. David Lawrence and Mrs. James Conner of Centerville; Mrs. Harold Fritzel of Milton; A.C. Minear of Kilbourne; Bruce Minear of Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Hunt of Pulaski, Grover Streeter of Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Moore of Western Springs, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Killan of Sterling, Ill.; E.F. Kimble of Landenberg, Pa.; and Homer McCutchion of Kansas City.
