Evelyn “Trink” Ann Ovrom Manning, 94, of Keosauqua, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, July 19, 2015. She was born February 10, 1921, in Shullsburg, WI, to Fred and Blanche Thompson Ovrom.
Trink was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, United Methodist Church and UMW, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Delphians. She attended Grinnell College and graduated from Iowa State University. She was loved by many and leaves a legacy of family and friends.
Trink grew up in Gary, SD. At age 16, she moved with her family to Keosauqua where she spent the rest of her life. She married John A. Manning in Keosauqua, IA, on December 25, 1943. They are the parents of seven children, John O. (Lynn), Matt A. (Judy) and George E. (Kathy) all of Keosauqua, IA, David A. (Janet) of West Des Moines, IA, Albert B. (Kim) of Lansing, MI, Elizabeth J. Edwards of Bettendorf, IA, and Ann C. of Minneapolis, MN, a sister, Betty Perkins, and a brother, Art Ovrom (Mary), all of Keosauqua, IA, 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She also has a daughter, Mai Nguyen
(Ham), of Boca Raton, FL, from the Manning's years of leading the American Field Service (AFS) program at Van Buren High School.She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Manning, her parents, brothers-in-law, George S. Friedmeyer, Dick Perkins and Paul Morgan, and sisters-in-law, Betty Manning Friedmeyer and Frances Manning Morgan.
Funeral services were held July 22, 2015, at Keosauqua United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart officiating. Burial was in Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua.
Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, handled the arrangements.
