L.M. Graham rites Saturday

BIRMINGHAM - Lawrence M. Graham, 68, Route 1, Birmingham, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City. A native of Packwood Community he moved to rural Birmingham in 1974.

Services will be at 1 (p.m.) Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Ed Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Lawrence M. Graham was born April 5, 1915, near Packwood, the son of Herve P. and Osa Viola Fairchild Graham. He was reared in the Packwood-Ollie Community and spent his entire adult life in the Quad cities until moving to Birmingham.

He was employed at International Harvester-Farmall Works in Rock Island until his retirement in 1972. He also operated the L.M. Graham and Sons Tree Service in the Quad Cities for 35 years.

Graham was a member of the United Auto Workers No. 1309 and serves as steward for 21 years.

He is survived by six children: Jerry Jerome Graham, Calif.; Gerald A. Graham, Milan, Ill.; Dennis Merle Graham, Rock Island, Ill.; Nancy Lynn Glenn, Moline, Ill.; Laura Lee Cooper, Colona, Ill.; and Lawrence Merle Graham, Moline.

Other survivors are nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd A. Graham, New London. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
