Mrs. Matilda M. Platt

Mrs. Matilda M. Platt, 70, a resident of Ottumwa, for 46 years, died at her home at 4:15 a.m. May 20 Mrs. Platt was born at Keosauqua May 29, 1868, the daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Luke. She came to Ottumwa in 1890 and lived here until 1896, when she returned to Ottumwa, in 1899 and had lived there ever since.

She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen and of the Maccabees and Royal Neighbors. She became a member of the Wesley M.E. when it was known as the Main St. Methodist church.

Surviving are two sons: Harry E. of Ottumwa and Volney of Shanadoah, two grand-children and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie McIntash and Mrs. Frank Schrekengast of Keosauqua, her husband Arthur E and a daughter, Gracie preceded her in death.

Services were held at the Carrol Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa Monday at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. C.A. Feild(?). Burial at the Purdom Cemetery at Keosauqua.
