CLARA ELLEN WILEY
Clara Ellen Wiley, daughter of Hans and Charlotte Wiley, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa on March 14, 1865. She went through high school and a two year course at Wolf Academy at Birmingham.
On February 26, 1889 she was married to William Lester Enlow of Birmingham. To this union were born three children, Emma Isabel, Arthur Lee and Wilesta Ruth, the latter two preceding her in death. On November 15, 1892 Mr. Enlow died, having been permitted to see only two of his children.
Mrs. Enlow carried on her husband's work for several years, which was publisher and editor of the Birmingham newpaper. After that she taught school in Iowa, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico until she retired in 1928. For the last several years she has made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Nichols. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Osawatomie, Kans, and was always active in church work, and was still teaching Sunday school class at the age of eighty-five. She has been in poor health for the past two years and died on Sept. 3, 1952.
Survivors are Emma Isabel Nichols, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and other relatives. She leaves many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 5th at the Eddy Funeral home, Rev. A.C. Casey of the First Presbyterian church of Osawatamie and Rev. Marton Moyes of the First Presbyterian church of Paola, Kans in charge. Interment was in the new Osawatomie cemetery. Music by Mrs. E.H. Caylor and Mrs. A.C. Casey, accompanied by Mrs. J.R. Dollar, were a part of the services.
Friends acting as pallbearers were C.W. Krumm, K.R. Johnson, Harry A. Pyle, E.H. Caylor, A.C. Foster and A.B. Durrant.
