Mrs. Ellis Van Zant
Mary Belle, daughter of Thomas and Amanda Robb, was born in Vernon township, Van Buren county on March 15, 1871, and departed this life at her home in Keosauqua Jan. 19, 1933, aged 61 years, 10 months and 4 days.
She grew to womanhood in Henry township, later moving to Farmington, at which time she was a teacher in the public schools.
In August 1894 she was united in marriage to Ellis E. Van Zant. To this union was born one daughter.
They resided on a farm near Bonaparte for a number of years, after which they moved to Keosauqua where she lived until her death. She leaves to mourn her husband, daughter, grandson and two brothers, Harry of Philadelphia and Clarence of Alhambra, Calif.
Mrs. Van Zant was a member of the Congregational church, the order of Eastern Stars of Keosauqua, and Royal Neighbors of Friendship Camp of Bonaparte.
Besides the relatives she is survived by a number of neighbors and friends who will greatly miss her in life.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Keosauqua Congregational church in charge of Rev. M.E. Hayes. The male quartet sang three numbers with Mrs. Florence Craig at the piano. Interment in Oak Lawn cemetery.
