Sarepta Ball, daughter of Gustavus and Elizabeth Ball was born April 18, 1852, in Belmont county, Ohio, and passed quietly to her eternal rest Saturday morning, Nov. 12, 1932, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sadie Elliott of Cantril, where she has been so tenderly cared for in her declining years.
She was united in marriage to John Early Huff, March 18, 1875, in Belmont county, Ohio, and moved with their family to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1883.
To this union seven children were born, Harry and Everett of Bonaparte, Oscar of Macomb, Ill., Fred of Mexico, Mo., Ralph of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Sadie Elliott of Cantril, and Laura, who passed away May 6, 1930. Besides the above named children she leaves 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Kaiser of Belmont county, Ohio. Her husband preceded her in death July 28, 1920. She united with the Methodist church in early life and was a true Christian home loving wife and mother, which was exemplified in her daily walks of life, and we truthfully say of her, “Blessed are they that die in the Lord for their works do follow them.”
Funeral services were held at Story Chapel on Monday afternoon, Rev. Hiram Gilbert officiating. Interment in the Thompson cemetery.
The following grandsons acted pallbearers: Howard Huff, Maurice Huff, Stanley Huff, Carroll Huff, Marvin Huff and Hollis Elliott.
