Barbara Catherine Smutz, daughter of Sam and Clara Smutz, was born Dec. 15, 1930, and passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 10, 1934, at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Derr, in Bonaparte, aged 3 years, 1 month and 26 days.

She was the youngest of five children and leaves to mourn her parents, three brothers, Waldo, Teddy and LaVerne. Gwendolyn, a little baby sister, went to her heavenly home Feb. 23, 1918. There also mourn with these her grandmother, Mrs. Anna Derr of Bonaparte, several uncles and aunts and many friends.

Barbara was a bright, lovable little child and radiated joy and sunshine through the three years she was permitted to stay with us.

A little bud of promise that blossoms now in heaven,
She thought our good-night kiss was given;
And like a lily her life did close,
Angels uncurtained that repose;
And the next waking dawned in heaven.

Four cousins acted as pall bearers. Funeral services were held from the home on Sunday, in charge of Rev. C.E. Strong. Interment in the Hillsboro cemetery.
