Vinnie Alice Smart, daughter of Mary and Johannon Smart, was born in Kansas, March 10, 1874, and had attained the age of 58 years, 2 months and 9 days.
She was converted to the Baptist church at Utica and at the time of her death she was an honored member of that church.
In the year 1894 she was married to John Thomas Barker of Utica, and to this union two children were born. The deceased leaves to mourn their loss her beloved husband, one son, Ara Raymond of Milton, and one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Simmons of Farmington, also her aged mother, Mary Smart of Bonaparte, one sister, Mrs. Minnie Eddie of Marceline, Mo., two brothers, Frank of Hillsboro and Clarence of Troy, three grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Her father and one brother preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barker had been in failing health since last November. Four weeks ago she was removed to the University hospital at Iowa City where everything that medical aid and loving hands could do to restore her to health, but she passed away May 19, 1932.
The golden sunset of a beautiful life has come and the mellow tints of the western twilight linger in the hearts of the people.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Milton Saturday afternoon, Rev. Shaw of Cantril being in charge.
