Mary Hannah (Fisher) Black 1879-1927

Mary Hannah, daughter of Charles and Pheobe Fisher, was born December 7, 1879, in Van Buren county, Iowa, and departed this life January 3, 1927, at Ottumwa, Iowa, at the age of 47 years and 26 days, where she succumbed to an operation performed two days before.

On May 11, 1899, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Black. To this union three sons and three daughters were born: Janet, Florence,[sic] Carlson, Ross, Helen, Robert, Edgar. There is also one granddaughter, Hazel Marie Carlson. All remain with her husband to mourn the departure of this beloved wife and mother, together with her two sisters and four brothers. Her parents have preceded her in death.

On Thanksgiving eve, 1908, she gave heself [sic] to her Savior and was baptized into His name the same hour of the night by Elder Nickleson, who was conducting meetings at the Christian church in Milton, Iowa, at that time. She remained faithful to the profession until called home.

Her main affection was for her family and her home and she was beloved by all who knew her.

The funeral service was conducted at her home Jan. 4, 1927, by E. L. Nickle and wife of Keosauqua, Ia., and interment in the Milton cemetery.
