YOUNG BOY DIES

Howard Holland died at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Haney at the home north of this city last Friday morning of diptheria and the body was taken to Milton in the evening for burial. A strict quarantine has been established by the authorities and it is hoped that no further cases will develop in this section.

Howard was taken ill a week ago last Friday and it seems that the symptons were so slow in developing that the disease had assumed a malignant form before the presence of the dread disease was dreamed of and it was then too late for the anti-toxin to have the desired effect.

Howard had made his home with the grandparents since babyhood, the mother dying at that time, and the loss to the foster parents is severe indeed.

The Independent, together with a large circle of friends, extend consolation.

Memorial services will be held for the little boy at a later date when the neighbors and friends from town will go out to the home and offer the condolence now denied them.
