Hazel Evaline, daughter of Peter L. and Cora D. Davis, was born on south prairie, south of Milton, Sept. 12, 1891, and went to her eternal home Tuesday morning, June 24, 1924, age 32 years, nine months and twelve days.
On May 18, 1912, she was united in marriage to Claud R. Smith, of Cantril, Iowa. To them was born one son, Burl K., now twelve years of age.
During the pastorate of Rev. O. G. Orcutt she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Milton and remained sure in her faith in her Heavenly Father until her departure.
Her last illness dated from last November during which she has been a very great sufferer. During these months of severe trial she manifested a marvelous spirit of patience and fortitude. Knowing for sometime that she could not recover she approached the end without fear but having a great desire to live for her loved ones especially that her laddie might not be deprived of the watchcare of his mother.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and son, father and grandmother, Nancy Workman, other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held from the home Thursday afternoon, June 26th, conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert. The remains were laid to rest in the Milton cemetery.
