RUNAWAY VICTIM DIES IN HOSPITAL

WILLIAM B. BELKNAP, 62 YEARS OLD, SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES.

William B. Belknap, 62 years old, living at 313 North Madison avenue, who was severely injured about noon Monday when his team of mules ran away with him near the intersection of Madison and Boone avenues, died at Ottumwa hospital at 9:30 last night. Details of the accident were not learned, as the man was in a state of shock when brought to the hospital in a local ambulance. It was understood by members of the family that he had been thrown from the wagon. The cause of the runaway is not known.

Belknap suffered a badly lacerated right hand, injury to one hip and possible internal injuries, according to a report made by Dr. W.C. Newell immediately following the accident.

He is survived by his wife, Ava; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Anderson of Ottumwa; one foster son, Curfman Wilford of Ottumwa; three sisters, Mrs. C.B. McCall of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. D.G. Hadsell, also of Kansas City and Mrs. Stella DeBolt of Louisville, Ky., and two brothers, Ira Belknap of Birmingham and Stanley of Centerville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence on North Madison avenue, Theodore Johnstone, assistant pastor of the First Lutheran church, will have charge. Burial will be made in the Shaul cemetery.
