Albert Henry Greef

Albert Henry Greef was born in Bentonsport on Oct. 14, 1863. His father, H.F. Greef, was a pioneer merchant in that town and the building in which he conducted his business still stands.

Mr. Greef went to Pittsburg, Kas., in 1889 and for many years was a prominent business man in that city.

Twenty-eight years ago he moved to Kansas City where he engaged in the real estate business and in 1915 was elected president of the Kansas City Real Estate board.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Josephine Greef; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence M. Walker of Pittsburg, Kan., and Mrs. John W. Harris, Kansas City. Two brothers also survive, Charles E. Greef of Eldora, and Otto Greef of Pittsburg, Kans.

Mr. Greef had enjoyed good health and his last illness was only of two weeks duration. He was taken to the Topeka hospital for a minor operation but a more serious condition was discovered and he did not survive the operation.

Funeral services were held at Topeka on Monday, Aug. 19, and interment took place in the family lot at Topeka.

Mr. Greef was a close friend of the late Fred Trigg, also of Van Buren county. He remembered his old friends with an affectionate interest and the last letter that he wrote just before his operation was to Miss Minnie Fulton of Bentonsport, expressing his regret that he could not be present at the homecoming there on August 15th.
