Mrs. Anna L. Nicklin

Mrs. Anna L. Nicklin, of Ottumwa, Ia., daughter of Kenner A. and Elizabeth Smith, was born in Tyler county, West Virginia, June 27, 1861. She departed this life, June 1, 1934, at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 4 days.

In 1878 she came with her parents to Van Buren county, Ia., On March 2, 1881 she was married to Thomas I. Nicklin. To this union were born two children, Jay Nicklin, of Ottumwa, and Hattie L. Elsensohn, of Iowa City. Ther is also to mourn her loss her husband, one grandson, Murl Elsensohn, one great-grandson, Donald Leroy Elsensohn, one sister, Mrs. Howard Baird; three brothers, V.V. Smith, John and Dell Smith, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Nicklin was converted and joined the Methodist church at Douds-Leando during the meetings held by Rev. Breeden.

Poor health had prevented her attending church for several years. She remained an earnest Christian.

The funeral services were held Sunday, June 3rd at 4 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Harold Lancaster, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church officiated. Burial was made in the Memorial Lawn cemetery, Ottumwa, Iowa.
