Thomas I. Nicklin

Thomas I. Nicklin, son of William V. and Elizabeth Nicklin was born in Tyler Co., West Va., June 5, 1859. He departed this life at the home of his brother, Warrington, at Selma at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 11 days.

At the age of 7 years he came to Van Buren county with his parents and has been a continual resident of Van Buren and Wapello counties.

On March 2, 1881 he was united in marriage to Anna Lonora Smith. To this union were born two children, Jay Nicklin, of Ottumwa and Hattie L. Elsensohn of Iowa City. There is one grandson, Murl Elsensohn, one great grandson, Donald Elsensohn, of Central Ferry, Wash.

Three brothers, David, of Eldon, Warrington, of Selma and Eli, of Emporia, Kansas, survive him. His wife preceded him in death June 1, 1934.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.P. Keast at the home of his son, Jay Nicklin, Ottumwa. Burial was made in Memorial Lawn cemetery Apr. 19th.
