Mrs. Laura Trimmer Lundgren

Laura Esther Trimmer was born in Bader, Illinois on Jan. 2, 1879 and departed from this life on Saturday night, Dec. 22, 1935.

She was the youngest child of Barnett and Elizabeth Trimmer, early settlers in Bader, who had come from their home in York county, Pennsylvania. She received her early education in the schools of Bader, later taking a business course, after which she spent some time in secretarial work in Chicago and St. Louis.

On June 16, 1915, she was united in marriage in "The Graced Methodist Church" in Chicago, to Chester L. Lundgren, of Burlington, Iowa. To this union one child, Elizabeth Prudence was born. The early home of the young couple was in Quincy, Illinois, but in 1923 they moved to Galesburg, which has since been their home. July 2nd of this year, Mrs. Lundgren and daughter, Betty came to join Mr. Lundgren in his work here and to establish their new home in Burlington. Seven years ago an automobile accident left Mrs. Lundgren a semi-invalid, and the past year has been one of such ill health, that has rendered Mrs. Lundgren unable physically to care for a home, so they have shared the home of their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Blackford.

Mrs. Lundgren has been a life-long member of the Methodist church and an active worker in its behalf. She was an earnest worker in the First Methodist church of Quincy and Galesburg, and did much in the activities of the Junior Department. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Woman's Relief Corps of Galesburg and in other civic clubs.

She was known for her cheerful and happy disposition, her thoughtfulness of others, as devoted wife and mother.

She was a patient sufferer during her long illness, anxious and hopeful for a restoration to good health, but ready to go if it were the Lord's will.

She leaves to mourn her going, her husband; her daughter, Betty; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Ida Trimmer Fowler, who was with her here during the last days of her illness and who has been most devoted throughout the years of her suffering; Mrs. Jessie Stone, of Battle Creek, Michigan; S.P. Trimmer, of Browning, Ill.; and Levi Trimmer, of Bluffs, Ill; and a number of nephews and nieces.
