Thomas W. Lyons

**Handwritten: VB County 29 FEB 1940

Thomas Walter Lyon, son of Harriett and James Lyon, was born Aug. 29, 1862, near Stockport, Iowa, and departed this life at his home in Stockport Feb. 17, 1940, at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Mary L. Ford July 11, 1886, at Winchester, Iowa. To this union were born 14 children, 9 daughters and 5 sons. Three of the children preceded him in death, two dying in infancy, and Thomas G. in 1936.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Etta Calhoun of Agency, Mrs. Carrie Nail and Robert Lyon of Kansas City, Kansas, Ed Lyon of Stockport, Mrs. Gladys Stilwell of Keosauqua, Mrs. Mary Moore of Washington, Iowa, Ida Mae Lyon and Mrs. Cleola Brightwell of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Hazel Johnson and Mrs Harriett Meck of Birmingham, and Eugene Lyon of Fairfield; also one sister, Anna Van Steinburg of Stockport; a number of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren together with other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Lyon had lived his entire life in this community, was a kind and loving father and husband, a good neighbor and a friend to all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in Stockport Tuesday evening by Rev. May, with burial in the Winchester cemetery.
