Mrs. Blanche Gilbert

Blanche Nason Gilbert, oldest daughter of Elmer and Lillie Nason, was born Oct. 12, 1895, near Douds, Iowa, and passed away at the Ottumwa hospital at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 21, 1935, age 39 years, 10 months and 9 days. All her life has been spent near the place of her birth with the exception of six years when the family lived in Kansas.

She was a constant sufferer for nearly four years, but always had a smile and pleasant word for all. She was always planning a pleasant time for every member of the family.

When a young girl she was converted and united with the Methodist church when Rev. Hix of Fairfield was holding revival meetings at Leando. She has always remained true to her faith.

All that loving hands and medical skill could do was done, but to no avail. God needed her and called her home.

She was a member and constant worker with the Ladies Aid of Leando. This work was always enjoyed.

She was united in marriage with Andrew Gilbert Sept. 27, 1916 and to this union was born one daughter, Norma Alberta. Mrs. Gilbert was a devoted wife and mother.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and daughter, father and mother, two brothers, Bertrum, Douds, and Mack, Selma, four sisters, Mrs. Velma Yarnell, Douds, Mrs. Bessie Rowe, Mrs. Fern Dooley, Birmingham, and Miss Mabelle Nason of Lexington, Ky., six sisters-in-law and eight brothers-in-law, and a number of nieces and nephews and numerous other relatves(sp) and friends. She will be greatly missed in her home and community.

Funeral services in charge of the Rev. C.H. Chader, Blakesburg, assisted by Rev. J.H. Stevens of Douds, were held at the Leando church Friday afternoon, Aug. 23, with interment in the Leando cemetery.
