Jeanette Shriver, 94, of Solon, Iowa, formerly of Farmington, Iowa, died August 23, 2014, at the Solon Skilled Care Nursing Center.

Born April 11, 1920, in Farmington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Jake and Edna (Grimm) Hols. In April of 1939 she married Harold L. Shriver in Farmington, Iowa. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Lloyd “Bill” Shriver of Iowa City, Iowa, one daughter, Jan Farthing of Florida, eight grandchildren, and 12 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, one son, Jim, and one brother, William.

Jeanette was a graduate of Farmington High school. She was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church. She managed and cooked at several local restaurants and managed an apartment complex. Jeanette enjoyed listening to Gaithers’ gospel music, playing euchre and family gatherings. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Grandma Cookie” as she always had cookies for them.

Her body has been deeded to the University of Iowa’s Anatomy Department.

A memorial service will be held in September. Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa.

The SchmitzLynk Funeral Home in Farmington is assisting the family with arrangements.
