Mrs. Martha J. Carnes

The funeral of Mrs. Martha Jane Barnett Carnes will be at Prairie View church near Azen, Mo, on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 9.

Mrs. Carnes was the wife of George W. Carnes, whose father was one of the pioneers in Keosauqua in 1837, and for years the family lived in Van Buren and Scotland counties on farms. In 1896 they moved to DeWitt, Ark., and forty years passed there. When her husband passed away she spent her time with her children, seven of whom survive, Mrs. G. C. Houk, Pasadena, Calif., George A. Carnes, at James, Minn.; W. Carnes, DeWitt, Ark., James A. Carnes, Stuttgart, Ark.. A son, Hop Carnes, deceased in recent years. The living children all hope to be present at the funeral.

Mrs. Carnes passed away at the home of her daughter in Pasadena, Calif.
