Mrs. H. V. Bucey

Harriet Josephine Talbott was born Feb. 9, 1855, at St. George, West Virginia, the daughter of Francis D. Talbott and Mary Ann Minear, and departed this life on Sept. 24, 1935, aged 80 years, 7 months and 15 days.

At the age of 8 years, after the death of her father in 1863, she came to this state with her mother and family who made their home at Kilbourne, Iowa. Later they moved to Douds, and still later to a farm north of Douds where they established a permanent home.

Most of her young womanhood was spent in Keosauqua where she united with the Methodist Episcopal church, later transferring to the Methodist church at Douds where she was a member at the time of her death. She was a cheerful and faithful worker in the church as long as her health permitted. She was united in marriage with H. C. Bucey on Oct. 28, 1903, at Centerville, Iowa.

Hers was the kind and loving influence in the home to which she was so devoted. Almost 40 years of her life were spent in this community where she was loved and respected for her constant and willing help wherever the need arose.

She leaves to mourn their lose, her husband, one son, Francis W. Bucey, a brother, F. O. Talbott of Douds; one sister, Miss Martha S. Talbott, of Kansas City, Mo., and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, in charge of Rev. M. D. Wyatt of Milton, who was a former pastor. Interment was made in Mt. Moriah cemetery.
