Stephen Carr

Stephen P. Carr, 82, of rural Douds died at 8 a.m., Sunday, May 16 [2004], at the University of Iowa Hospitals.

He was born May 6, 1922, to Harry and Mary Mae Plowman Carr. He married Melva L. Pearson on August 9, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He graduated from Douds High School in 1940. Stephen was a farmer. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Carl and Lawrence, both of Douds; two daughters, Linda Rozendael of Oskaloosa and Phyllis Hendricks of Bonaparte; a sister, Madelyn Davis of Keosauqua; five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Visitation will be open at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. The family will meet with friends from 7-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, at the funeral home, with Rev. Connie Markle and Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery.

Memorials to Douds' depot restoration may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14013 Hwy. 98, Douds, 52551.
