Henry Lagle

Henry Lagle was born Sept. 8, 1852, in Louisville, Kentucky, and departed this life December 15, 1934, at the home of his grandson, Vern Lagle who lives near Troy, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, three months and seven days.

He came from Kentucky at the age of five years, locating in Bentonsport, Iowa, in Van Buren county, and in this county, he spent nearly his entire life. (In) his middle life he united with the (M.E.) church at Vernon Prairie.

He was united in marriage to Marjory A. Parker, August 20, 1880. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive as follows: Harry of Selma, Ia.; Walter of Moravia, Ia.; Alonzo of Stronghurst,(Ill.); Mrs. Sarah Washburn of (Wisconsin); Mrs. Anna Cooper of (??); Mrs. Nora Holbert of (??), Ark. He is also survived by (??) grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Grubbs and Mrs. Sam Askerman(??) of Douds, Ia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Truman Grubbs.

He was married a second time to Doris Shurman, Sept. 20, 1894. She passed away in Sept. 1928.

Funeral services were in the Leando church at 2 o'clock, Dec. 18, with the Rev. J.D. Stevens, pastor of the church in charge. Interment was in the Leando cemetery.
