Edwin Gilbert.

Edwin Gilbert, son of James and Elizabeth Gilbert, was born at Kilbourne, Iowa, March 3, 1864, and left this life the morning of Jan. 4, 1938. His suffering was not of long duration, just about eight hours, although he had been frail for quite some time.

He was married to Anna Umphrey, Feb. 18, 1892 and they, together had lived here continuously for forty-three years on the same farm near Kilbourne where he passed away.

To them was born one daughter, Mrs. Lee Piper and she and her husband have lived with and cared for her father and mother the past two years.

They had one grandchild, Mrs. Marguerite McNeeley of Chicago, Illinois.

He was the last of a family of ten children of which he was next to the youngest.

He was one of the kindest of fathers, the most loving husbands, and the most patient of men.

He was a living example of what a man could be to his neighbars(sp). He leaves many sorrowing rlatves(sp) and scores of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Kilbourne M.E. church Thursday afternoon in charge of the Rev. J.C. Austin. Interment was in the Kilbourne cemetery.
