CORA CRAWFORD

Cora Ann Crawford, daughter of Matthew and Mary Crawford was born in Van Buren county near Keosauqua August 28, 1863, and died at the home of her son, Harley T. Black near Rutledge, Mo., Jan 7, 1933, aged 69 years, 4 months and 9 days. She was one of seven children, two of whom survive, Mrs. Alex Lonnon of Paola, Kansas, and Mrs. Charles Black of Memphis, Mo. She moved with her parents to Scotland county, Mo., in the spring of 1878 and has been a resident of Scotland county ever since, having lived on the same farm for 42 years, she united with the McAdow Presbyterian church in August 1879 under the pastorate of John Neff. She was united in marriage to James H. Black March 26, 1885. Mr. Black died Dec. 6, 1920. Five children were born all of whom survive, Virgial T., Harley T., Adrian C., Mrs. Maggie Forrester and Mrs. Helen Tippet, all of Scotland county. She also leaves the following grandchildren: Lennie and Leonard Black, children of Mr. and Mrs. Virgial T. Black, Leon, Marguerite, Dorothy and Jeannette, children of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Black, Chester, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Black, Paul Eugene Forrester and James Lee Tippet. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home, Rev. H. V. McCullough in charge. Burial in Memphis cemetery.
