CONNOR, ROSSELL, SUTTON, QUICK, MCCARTY, GARDNER

JOSEPH W. CONNOR

Joseph Waldo Connor, son of Wm. and Virginia Connor, was born near Salem, Iowa, Feb. 1, 1877, and departed this life Feb. 17, 1940, being 63 years and 16 days of age. All his life had been spent in Hillsboro and vicinity. He has been in failing health for more than a year.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Esther Rossell of Salem in 1900. To this union five daughters and two sons were born: Elizabeth Sutton and Dorothy Quick of Ottumwa, Katie McCarty of Peoria, Ill, Margaret, who preceded him in death in the year 1928; Mary, at home; Paul R. Connor of Hillsboro and Arlo W. Connor of Leckla, Wyoming. Besides his wife and immediate family he leaves in sorrow, Ivan A. Rossell of Salem, Percy E. Gardner of Wyoming, one brother and one sister, ten grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He united with the Baptist church of Hillsboro in early manhood, and has been very faithful in attendance when health permitted and was a patient sufferer to the end.

Funeral services were held at the Hillsboro Baptist church on Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Barnett of Salem officiating and interment in Hillsboro cemetery.
