ELWOOD HARRYMAN ENDS LIFE BY DROWNING

Elwood Harryman, 22 year old farmer living near Douds, committed suicide Friday morning by drowning himself in the well near the barn at his home. The body was recovered by relatives about 11 o'clock Friday morning. He had been away from the house since 7 o'clock in the morning and it was thought that he took his own life about 7:30. His discarded clothing was found near the well.

Mr. Harryman had been employed recently in Burlington. Cause of the act was unknown, unless it was despondency over the death of his uncle, Joe Harryman on Thursday.

He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Colin Craig of Keosauqua, and the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Harryman of Douds, besides brothers and sisters and other relatives. The couple had been married only two years, Mrs. Harryman being a former school teacher.

Coroner Harold Catcott said the death was evidently suicide and no inquest was held.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at Leando church, Rev. C.H. Orf officiating assisted by Rev. E.K. Parrott. Burial in Leando cemetery.
