William John Hootman

William John Hootman, son of William and Margaret Hootman, was born near Mt. Zion, Iowa, April 20, 1863 and passed away July ??, 1936 at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 25 days.

He is survived by one brother, Vermil Hootman of Birmingham, Iowa; two nephews, Fred Hootman of Cottonwood, Calif.; and Clem Hootman of Birmingham, Iowa; and two nieces, Mrs. Bertha Sorenson, Oroville, Calif.; and Mrs. Hazel Bonnett of Birmingham, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Josseph, James, Hugh, Wilson and Jacob and three sisters, Mary E, Anne and Ella B. His brother, Jacob, with whom he made his home passed away May 7, 1936.

At an early age he became a member of United Presbyterian church of Birmingham, Iowa and remained a faithful member until its dissolution a few years ago.

He spent much time in the study and reading of the Scripture, having read the Bible through many times. As has been the daily custom of the family worship in the home, he had kept up the same until the time of his sudden death.

He will be greatly missed by relatives and friends and in the community in which he had lived for many years.

Funeral services were held late Sunday afternoon in charge of the Rev. H.C. Irvine. Interment was in Miller Chapel cemetery.
