OBITUARY

Sarah E. Daughters, daughter of Calvin and Lucretia Stephens Daughters, was born in Ripley county, Indiana, August 16, 1844, and departed this life at her home in Milton, Iowa, August 2, 1928, aged 83 years, 11 months and 16 days.

Fourth in a family of ten children she moved with her parents in infancy to Keokuk, Iowa, thereafter living in this state with the exception of two years near Hitt, Mo.

She was married Dec. 21, 186[3?] to James F. King, who preceded her in death March 15, 1905. To this union was born four children, of whom two died in infancy, a daughter Ella died at the age of 13, and a daughter L[e]ttie dying at the age of 31, leaving a grandson, Bruce Pauley, who died at the age of 12 years.

In middle life she was converted and united with the Mt. Zion M. E. church, later transferring her membership to the Milton Baptist church of which she has since been a consistent and faithful member. She was a member of the W. C. T. U. and was made a life member last fall. She was a good neighbor, a kind wife and mother and a true friend.

She leaves to mourn her departure three brothers: Samuel Daughters of Houston, Texas; Curtis B. Daughters of Manhattan, Kansas, and John C. Daughters of Memphis, Mo. A sister, Hester A. Brown, of Memphis, Mo., and a niece, Mrs. Beulah Epperly, of Milton, whom she raised and who nursed and cared for her during her declining years. These with a host of friends and other relatives are saddened at her departure, while their loss is her gain as she has gone to be with departed lovedones and the Savior in whom she so implicity [sic] trusted.
