MRS. EMMA WARNER

Emma Warner, daughter of John Smith and his wife Catherine Tully Smith, was born near Cantril, Iowa, December 17, 1871, aged 56 years, 7 months and 17 days [sic-no death date stated]. She died at Ottumwa where she had gone for an operation after several years of ill health. Her childhood was spent near Cantril where she was educated and formed many strong friendships. She was the tenth child of a family of thirteen. She was married to Bert Warner June 4th, 1890. To this union were born five children. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and also the Eastern Star at Cantril. She was converted and united with the Methodist church at Cantril in 1917 under the pastorate of Rev. W. H. Jones. Her husband passed away January 15th, 1915, and since then she has lived mostly at Cantril. She was lovable as a child, affecitonate as a sister and mother, true in her companionship, and neighbors and country. She was consistenten [sic] as a christian and her going from us leaves a lonesome place among us. She is survived by brothers and sisters as follows: Alexander of Chamberburg, Mo.; Mary Ellen Fitz of New York; Elizabeth Price of Milton, and Tom, Frank, Charley and George of Cantril. Margaret Struble, Anna Norris, Henry, John and Irwin have preceded her in death. Her children are: Theressa, Wilbourn, Catherine Warner, Loyd [sic], Frede [sic] Wells and Pauline Hollin. There are six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lester and Portia Wells, Bert Warner, Robert Hollin and Aleta Park, deceased.
