MRS. KATE ATTIX PARK

Mrs. Kate Attix Park, eldest daughter of John and Adeline Attix, was born April 18, 1856, near Springfield, Ill., and passed away at Keosauqua, Iowa, Dec. 31, 1928, being 72 years, 8 months, and 13 days of age. Her parents moved to the vicinity of Keosauqua when she was 8 years of age and here she grew to womanhood. On July 8, 1889, she was united in marriage to Stephen Park. To this union one child was born, Lena, who was with her mother during her last illness. Mrs. Park lost her husband by death in 1906 and since then she and her daughter have made their home in Keosauqua.

When a girl of 17 Mrs. Parks [sic] was converted and joined the church and all through the years has been a faithful member.

Those who mourn her going are her daughter, Lena, and step-daughter Negra Churchill of Gillespie, Ill., also three nieces and two nephews. These together with her many friends in the church and community will greatly miss her.

Funeral services were held from the M. E. Church Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1929, conducted by Rev. Cox, assisted by J. C. Caughlin, a former pastor. Interment in Purdom cemetery.
