OBITUARY OF W. T. GIBSON
W. T. Gibson was born April 24, 1842, in Northumberland county, Penn., and departed this life May 20, 1924, at the home of his daughter Mrs. I. N. Spencer in Keosauqua, Iowa, at the advanced age of 82 years and 26 days.
At the age of eight Mr. Gibson moved with his parents to Van Buren county, where he ever since resided. He was a member of the Pittsburg church, having joined the church years ago.
He was united in marriage, Sept. 14, 1865, to Mss Eunice S. Drummond, and to this union two sons and one daughter were born: William H. of Troy, Iowa, G. M. of Milton, Iowa, and Mrs. I. N. Spencer, of Keosauqua, all of whom survive him. His wife passed away Nov. 9, 1873. Mr. Gibson was again married Dec. 30, 1874, to Miss Mary Drummond and to this union were born one daughter and one son: Lewis E. Gibson of Pittsburg, Iowa, and Mrs. Florence Etheridge of Arizona, and both survive him. Mr. Gibson also has two brothers, David and Henry, now living in Kansas, and one sister, Sarah C. Hull of Milton, Iowa, and also 13 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren and a host of friends left to mourn their loss of the brother, the father and friend.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 22, at 2 o'clock in the Pittsburg M. E. church in charge of the pastor, Rev. B. H. Morse who preached from the text, 1st Cor. 15-14: If Christ be not risen then is our preaching vain and your faith is vain. Interment was in the Pittsburg cemetery.
