MRS. REBECCA AMEND
Rebecca Hale, daughter of John and [Ed]ith Hale, was born in Rush County, Indiana, May 4th, 1838, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Roby, March 1st, 1921, aged [82] years, 9 months and 27 days. When she was two years of age, she came to Iowa with her parents locating on a farm near Milton. On May 27th, 1855, She [sic] was married to H. B. Amend. To this union nine children were born, four of whom died in infancy. A son, B. F., an engineer, was killed in a railway accident on December 12th, 1917. The living are three sons, E. G. of Fort Smith, Arkansas; J. W. of Lewis, Kansas; S. A. of Stafford, Kansas, who were present at the funeral, and one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Roby, of Milton, with whom she had made her home for the past twenty-eight years.
