Samuel Askren

Samuel N. Askren, son of David and Sarah Askren was born near Wapello, Iowa on December 18, 1850 and departed this life August 27, 1936 at the age of 85 years, 8 months and 9 days.

He was united in marriage with Alice Kiplinger December 31, 1888. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister. He leaves to mourn their loss on daughter, Mrs. Lena Kolich, of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Lydia George of Columbus City, Iowa; 2 nephews, Clarence Askren of Wapello, Iowa, and J.P. Koons of Parker, Colo. He had been a member of the Leando M.E. church for many years.

Funeral services were held Monday August 31 at 2 p.m. at the Leando church in charge of a former pastor, Rev. Hehner of Milton, Iowa. Interment in Leando cemetery.
