Mrs. Sarah Jane Keeler
Sarah Jane, daughter of Richard and Phoebe Poling, was born in Van Buren county Iowa June 16, 1865 and passed away at her home in Cantril, Iowa April 27, 1936 at the age of 70 years, 10 months and 19 days.
She was united in marriage with Warren Keeler Feb. 19, 1893. To this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters: Rex of Dolores, Colo.; Ross of Ottumwa, Ia.; Ralph at home; Mrs. Rena Buckles of Davenport, Iowa; and Reba Leathers of Batavia, Iowa.
She confessed faith in Christ at an early age, and united with the M.E. Church at Mt. Sterling. The graces of a Christian character that have been most pronounced were her loyalty to her family, husband and children. She loved her grandchildren and showed considerable kindness to friends and neighbors.
Her husband preceeded her in death May 30, 1927. She is now survived by her five children, 12 grandchildren: other relatives and a host of friends and kind neighbors to mourn her loss.
Funeral services were conducted at the M.E. Church in Cantril April 28 by her pastor, Rev. F.M. James. Three songs were given by Gerald Dunsmore, Ben Casady, Mrs. Nola Aughburger. Elma Daggs, Mrs. Geo. Cretcher presided at the piano. Burial was in the Harness cemetery near Mt Sterling.
