Mrs. Lewis Mathias
Ora Emma Winters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Winters, was born October 15, 1875 in Van Buren County and departed this life July 4, 1936 in the hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, aged 60 years, 8 months and 19 days.
She was married to Lewis Mathias of Birmingham May 10, 1893. To this union were born four children, one of whom died in infancy. The other three, Mrs. Veda Ehret, Leonard M. and Mrs. Edith Leyden with their father, all of Birmingham, survive; there are also eight grandchildren and one brother Moses Winters of Deer Trail, Colo; and four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Brown of Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. Ida Hartman of Gunnison, Colo.; Mrs. Nellie Markum of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; Mrs. Susie Tweedy of Libertyville, Iowa. Three half sisters, Mrs. Cindy Hughes, Mrs. Stell Perry and Mrs. Nerva Moore, all of Selma, Iowa.
Mrs. Mathias united with the Methodist church in girlhood. She was a faithful wife and mother and a great lover of home.
The funeral services were held in the Bethel Church west of Birmingham Monday at 2 p.m. in charge of Howard C. I??? of Birmingham. Interment was in the nearby cemetery.
