FARMINGTON.
N. J. Haines, a pioneer resident of this place, passed away early Friday morning after an illness of a few weeks. The deceased was born in Harrison county, Ohio, in 1836, and came to Iowa when he was eight years of age. He was married to Miss Sarah Jane Luther in October, 1858?, and to this union two children were born, J. L. Haines of Hannibal, Missouri, and Grant who died several years ago at the age of 21 years. Mr. Haines was a stone mason and his work was much sought after by prominent contractors. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from his late home conducted by Rev. C. F. Man of the Baptist church of which the deceased was a member. He is survived by his widow, one son J. L. Haines of Hannibal Missouri, and three granddaughters Minnie, Ethel and Florence Haines of Hannibal Missouri.
