Sarah A. Norris was born in Ohio, June 9, 1818. With her father and brother she came to Iowa in 1840, settling in Farmington. She was married to Evander Wright Feb. 17, 1842, and removed to a farm south of Bonaparte. Five children were born to this union, one son and four daughters. The son died in infancy, and in July, 1855, her husband died. In 1863 she moved to Bonaparte, where she lived continuously until her death. She leaves four daughters, Miss Rebecca Wright, Mrs. Mary Townsend, of Farmington, Mrs. Lucy Mills, of Bonaparte, and Mrs. Gertrude Forgey, of Illinois, also six grandchildren, to mourn her loss. She united with the Baptist church in Bonaparte in 1863, and lived a Christian life, looking for the reward in the glory world.

She died August 9, 1898, having completed 80 years and 2 months. The funeral occurred from her late home August 11, 18[98], Rev. G. W. Barber, of Farmington conducting the service, assisted by Rev. McCullom.
