MABEL ACTON

ELDON -- Mabel Acton, 94, of Eldon died at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 4, 1986, in Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born Nov. 12, 1889, at Monte Vista, Colo., to John and Florence Hendrickson Hodson. She moved to Iowa in a covered wagon, settling in Wapello county where she lived all her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Eldon. She married Guy C. Acton on Dec. 21, 1910. He died Dec. 19, 1966.

She is survived by five daughters, Florence Talbott of Birmingham, Irene Spilman of Selma, Ferne Miller of Milton, Maxine DeBurn of Ottumwa and Barbara Dains of Burlington; a son, Jim of Ottumwa; and 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The service was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Burial was in Eldon Cemetery.
