John C. Douthart

John C. Douthart, son of Robert and Emeline Douthart, passed away at St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa Saturday morning, Dec. 26, at the age of 87 years and 5 months. He was born July 26, 1855, at the family home near Hillsboro, Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

He was the seventh child in a family of 11 children: Henry F., James I., Ira W., Albert N., Thomas J., Simon Peter, Frank R., Ruth, William I., and George W., all of whom preceded him in death.

He was united in marriage with Flora E. Day on Oct. 11, 1894, who preceded him in death March 2, 1920. To this union were born three children; Clyde A. of Rockford, Ill., Calvin V., of Stockport, Iowa, and Mrs. Agnes Russell of Birmingham, all of whom survive him. He also leaves six grandchildren.

He resided on the farm where he was born until 1914 when the family moved to a farm southwest of Stockport where his remaining years were spent.

Funeral services were held at the Winchester church Monday at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Winchester cemetery.
