Mrs. Lena Sparks Wilson died in the Ottumwa Hospital Saturday, where she had been taken to have and[sic] operation performed for appendicitis a couple of weeks previous. Deceased was a daughter of Mrs. J.T. Robison, south of town, and is well favorable known in this community where she resided several years. She had been in poor health for more than a year, having several attacks of the disease, and it was finally reluctantly decided to have an operation as a last resort. She rallied from the operation and it was thought would recover, but on Saturday took a severe spell of coughing which resulted in her death in a few hours. Her remains were brought to this place Sunday and the funeral was held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the U.P. Church.
