ROY SPURGEON

Roy C. Spurgeon died Dec. 4, at a hospital at Kirksville, Mo., at the age of 49. His health had been failing for two years. He had been making his home on a farm near Brashear, Mo., and is survived by his wife and three daughters.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the U.B. church, conducted by Rev. Hamondtree with burial in Brashear cemetery.

He was born at Farmington, Iowa, August 6, 1893, a son of Ward and Mary Luther Spurgeon, and was united in marriage with Miss Mable Stevenson of Bonaparte on Sept. 5, 1912. They lived in southern Iowa until 1920, then moved to Clark county, Mo. In 1932 they bought the McClay homestead near Brashear which has since been their home.

Surviving are his wife; his parents, Mr. Spurgeion of California, and Mrs. Mary Spurgeon Brassfield of Farmington; three daughters, Mrs. Doris Dover, Mrs. Beata Patterson and Mrs. Helen Edwin; also four grandchildren, aii of Brashear.
