IONA ROBINSON

Iona Robinson, daughter of Waitman and Eliza Robinson, was born in Des Moines township, Van Buren county, Jan. 5, 1880 and departed this life June 25, 1954 at Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, Iowa.

She attended school in rural district and also Keosauqua.

The surrounding community has always been her home, with the exception of a brief residence in the home of her brother in Colorado.

In the year of 1916, she with her father and mother came to Bonaparte to reside.

On Aug. 14, 1952 she was united in marriage with Glen Elliott of Cantril, Iowa. She then took up her residence on his farm.

Her keen interest was on planning and caring for the home, her hospitality was unbounded and especially were the visits of old time friends enjoyed.

Death was the result of a heart ailment with complications in which she was confined to the hospital for four days.

Preceding her in death were her father, mother and brother. C. C. Robinson.

She is survived by her husband, one step-son, Hollis Elliott of Keosauqua; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Simmons, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Lettie Rhoades, Amarillo, Texas and Mrs. Bee Wolfe, Bonaparte; six nieces and nephews and many friends also survive.

Services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bonaparte Methodist church with Richard Eis as minister. Burial was at the Bonaparte cemetery.
