Nelle Jones Price

Mrs. Nelle Jones Price of Fairfield died at 10 o’clock Saturday night, Nov. 22 in Jefferson county hospital, Fairfield, after a serious illness of several months. Her age was 78 years and 7 months.

Nelle was the daughter of Henry and Lyda J. Jones, and their home for many years was what is now the Roy Pickard home in Bonaparte. She was one of six children: Her sisters and brothers were Anna Ridgeway, Minnie Trow, Edith Daugherty, Harry and Walter Jones. Minnie Trow, now living in California, is the last survivor of the family.

She was one of two members of the first graduating class of the Bonaparte high school, 1891. The other member was Gary Whitmore of Bonaparte. She affiliated with the Presbyterian church and was a charter member of the Sunshine Society. She was also a member of the Magnolia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She was married to Tom Brown of Fairfield who died in February 1935. On December 28, 1942 she was married to John Price of Fairfield.

Besides her sister, she is survived by her husband, John Price, a step-son, Paul Brown, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her niece, Mrs. Mildred Percival, had recently moved to Fairfield and attended her aunt during the last weeks of her illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Hoskin funeral home, Fairfield, Iowa. Burial was in Memorial Lawn cemetery at Fairfield.

**Note: Per her tombstone at Memorial Lawn Cemetery “22 April 1874-22 November 1952” The name on the stone is “Florence Ellen (Jones) Price”
