EARL WAYNE POLLARD

Earl Wayne Pollard, aged 49, of Farmington, Iowa, passed away very suddenly Wednesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at his home.

Mr. Pollard was born at Charleston, Iowa on February 1, 1905, the son of Thomas C. and Marguerite B. Ricker Pollard. He joined the Baptist church at Croton, Iowa in 1921.

For the past seven years he operated the Grand Cafe in Farmington, assisted by his brother, William.

When Earl did not return to the cafe about 11 p.m., his brother William became alarmed and went in search of him. The body was found in the garden where he had evidently been working. He was a great lover of gardening, and especially loved flowers. He had many plants of African violets, gloxinias, and other choice plants, which he skillfully took care of.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Helen Anthony, and a brother, William, both of Farmington, and a brother Lester of Davenport; also a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Farmington Nazarene Church Saturday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. James Fisher officiating, assisted by Rev. Donald Arthur. Burial was made in Greenglade cemetery in Farmington. Bearers were Therman McIntosh, Ardath Deere, Max DeRosear, Bob Keller, Clifford McCarty and Harvey Strah.
